Industrial dashcam for machine tools - DMG MORI & prenode bring transparency to the heart of production
July 9, 2025

As part of the Factory-X innovation project, prenode's camera-based AssetCore monitoring system was successfully integrated as a retrofit solution into an existing DMG MORI machine tool.
The solution enables an industrial dashcam function for machine tools: Through continuous video recording in the ring buffer and intelligent connection with OPC UA machine signals, relevant video excerpts are automatically saved in the event of faults — looking back before, during and after the event.
At the same time, authorized users receive live images directly from the machine interior, regardless of location, via a secure remote connection. In this way, sources of error can be identified more quickly, causes analyzed more precisely and operational processes can be sustainably optimized.
About DMG MORI
DMG MORI is one of the world's leading manufacturers of machine tools and a pioneer in digital manufacturing. The company stands for precision, automation and intelligent production solutions.
As part of Factory-X prenode's AssetCore monitoring system was integrated into an existing CLX 550 TC at DMG MORI as a retrofit. The open architecture and the use of established interface standards such as OPC UA enable easy retrofitting and sustainable development.
DMG MORI aims to bring greater efficiency, process reliability and transparency to manufacturing through digital technologies. AssetCore supports this goal with a visual level that makes machine states comprehensible and creates new opportunities in fault diagnosis, documentation and automation.

Retrofit monitoring with AssetCore from prenode
that AssetCore Monitoring System by prenode makes production processes visible. It enables real-time monitoring of machines and processes using cameras and sensors. Automatic video recordings in the event of faults, live streams, intelligent trigger mechanisms and extensive analysis tools provide a new quality of machine monitoring.
Implementation in Factory-X
The shortage of skilled workers in industry requires new approaches to automate production plants. As part of Factory-X-Project We are working together with our use case partners to implement “Autonomous Operation-as-a-Service”. In doing so, we develop solutions that make it possible to initially control systems remotely and then gradually increase the level of automation — always with the aim of efficiently supporting machine operators.
In this project, prenode is contributing its extensive expertise in the areas of IoT and artificial intelligence to significantly drive digital transformation in the manufacturing industry.
